Whakapapa is also a short drive away should you wish to explore the other side of the mountain. In summertime take a sightseeing ride in the gondola to 2200m and have some food and beverage in the Knoll Ridge Chalet

Mountain Biking & Cycle Trails

Ride scenic trails for all skill levels around Ohakune. Among the most popular routes is the Old Coach Road, which offers a mix of historical significance and scenery. Additionally, Te Ara Mangawhero cycle trail. part of the Mountain to Sea Cycle Trail provides an exhilarating experience when you ride from the top of Turoa carpark down to the township. Many of the trails begin a couple of minutes away at the end of the street, or get the shuttle pick up also a few minutes walk away.

At the Ohakune Junction end of town, you'll find a mix of restaurants and bars that cater to a variety of tastes and preferences. Ohakune Hot tubs is also a short walk from our accommodation. Why not hop off the Northern Explorer Train and stay a few days.
